Home holiday - Maison de charme Buca del Tasso is located on the hills around Lucca on the border with the province of Pistoia. Its altitude is about 380/400 metres. It is a few kilometres from Lucca, Montecatini, Florence and  Versilia. Wine tasting lovers will be pleased to know that  Buca del Tasso  is on the  route of  "Strade del Vino". The property is the last house of  S. Gennaro, a nice village of  the VI° century b. C.. It is characterised by small streets offering very picturesque views. Here you can admire beautiful palaces and the Roman Pieve with the terracotta Angel attributed  to Leonardo da Vinci, but,  believe us, it is not the only beautiful thing in the Church. Although the village is completely surrounded by the green, at about 6 km from it  you will find Collodi, the village of  "Pinocchio". Here your children can spend an afternoon  in the recreation ground of Pinocchio, while the adults can visit  Villa Garzoni, and its park. This house belonged to the family of  "Pinocchio" 's  author. Some years ago all the property was restored and a Butterfly House was added. Petrognano is the village next to Buca del Tasso. The view from the Church square is breathtaking. You can also see Villa Borromeo, today Gambaro, built at the end of the XVII° century. Following the road leading  to Buca del Tasso, you can go to Pizzorna, which is about 1.000 metres above the sea level. Here you can find some restaurants and a small  lake where you can  fish  trouts. On  24th  August,  S. Bartholomew' s day a lot of people from  Lucca,  go picnicking in the Pizzorna. It is called "merendino" and it is a  traditional fest. We are 15 km from Chiesina Uzzanese  highway exit  and 10 km from the Pescia station. Florence Peretola Airport (70Km) and the Pisa Galileo Galilei  Airport (46Km) can be  reached in less than 1 hour.           © Buca del Tasso. All rigts reserved
